Life's A Highway

(Some drive a Pinto, some ride a Limo.)

Sometimes the road is paved, dirt, or cobblestone,
and can change without notice to anyone.
How well you do depends on how well you're prepared,
It's as exciting as the chances you take, how much you've dared.

Sometimes the road is straight, smooth and slow,
with a chance to view along the way as you go.
You can look back and see many things for miles;
Good memories, all remembered with smiles.

Sometimes the road is curvy and mountainous,
that's when things get rough and treacherous.
Bad times back behind the bend, hidden from view,
Now that that's over move ahead, forward, look to the new.

Many side roads, forks, and turnoffs exist,
so many choices there are to resist.
Each with a different view along the way.
Is there any one route that is better they say?

Other cars are like the people you meet
on your road through life, your friends you keep.
Some must be left behind on the roadside
while others stay with you, right by your side.

Some friends may take a new route today,
And go off in life on their own way.
By chance or fate, for some strange reason,
You may meet them again in another season.

As you leave this rest stop, gas up and go,
there's one more thought you ought to know.
Wherever you head on your highway today,
you can't go back - this highway's ONE WAY!
